Standard merge fields should work for Leads or Objects simultaneously

In Salesforce's native Mass Mail, standard fields for Lead or Object records (such as name, salutation, title, etc.) can be merged with a single merge field in the same template. For example, a template with the merge field {!Lead.FirstName} will work for both Leads and Contacts, so that you can use the same template for both Leads and Contacts in the same campaign. Please add this to functionality to MassMailer. Without it, users need to create two separate campaigns, two separate emails, and send/manage them separately. Adding the native functionality into MassMailer would make it more efficient.
